Colin is growing by leaps and bounds. At his 9 month check-up he was 29.5 inches tall and weighed in at 20.9 lbs. He thinks he is 9 months going on 19! In February we went to visit Grandma and Grandpa Murdock in Orange County and also visit Disneyland for the first time. Colin had been doing the army crawl for over three months and we were beginning to think that he would not crawl. However, when we arrived at Grandma and Grandpa's and put him on the ground he began crawling. By the end of the weekend, he was an official crawler. No more dragging his stomach on the ground. During the last month he also began transitioning from baby food to more solid food.

Sleeping Through the Night
During the last week in February we decided that it was time to let Colin "cry it out" when putting him to sleep because he was having trouble putting himself to sleep and was waking up multiple times at night. Within three days he was easily putting himself to sleep. It was a bit difficult for me to watch him cry, but each time I put him down to sleep the crying became less and less. Some of it was even a little comical as shown in the video monitor photos below.
He fell asleep for a short time like this before finally laying down.
Sometimes when I put him down from his nap he gets upset and will pull his socks off (as shown in this photo) and throw them in protest over the side of his crib.

"Do you love my hair? Dad was watching me while mom went to the store. He decided to make my hair a curly mohawk to upset mom when she returned but it didn't work. Mom thought it made me look adorable."

I went to be visit taught and Colin played with this ball that belongs to my visiting teacher's son. He would not let it go and she told us to keep the ball. He would not let it out of his hands all day and even took a nap holding it.

I couldn't resist getting Colin the Little People Farm. I had such fond memories as a child playing with my Little People. My rationale for buying him a new toy was: I have to play with him a lot because he is the only child so far and I can only handle playing with the same toys over and over so much.
